Director

The Director serves as the second in charge under the Executive Director and has a range of responsibilities that support the organization’s overall mission and the Executive Director’s agenda.

Program Oversight: Managing and overseeing specific programs or initiatives. This includes planning, implementation, evaluation, and making necessary adjustments to meet the organization’s objectives.

Strategic Assistance: Assisting the Executive Director in developing and implementing strategic plans. This may involve research, analysis, and presentation of information to support decision-making.

Operational Support: Overseeing day-to-day operations in certain areas, ensuring that the organization runs smoothly and efficiently.

Financial Management Assistance: Helping with budget development, monitoring expenses, and possibly overseeing specific financial operations or grant management.

Fundraising and Development Support: Assisting with fundraising efforts, donor relations, grant writing, and other development activities.

Community Engagement: Representing the organization in the community, at events, or during collaborations with other organizations, particularly in the absence of the Executive Director.

Policy Implementation and Compliance: Ensuring that policies are implemented effectively and that the organization remains compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Communication and Reporting: Assisting in internal and external communications, including reporting to the board, stakeholders, and the public.

Problem Solving and Decision Making: Addressing issues and challenges that arise in the course of operations, often serving as a point of contact for problem resolution.

Advocacy and Public Relations: Supporting efforts to advocate for gender and sexuality education and participating in public relations activities.

Special Projects: Leading or contributing to special projects as assigned by the Executive Director, which may include research projects, community initiatives, or organizational development efforts.

Investigation and Resolution of Complaints: As part of their role, the Director is responsible for acting as an intermediary in the complaint process. This involves receiving complaints from members, conducting a preliminary assessment of these complaints, and then presenting them to both the board of directors and to the Executive Director for further investigation. The Director ensures that all complaints are handled in line with the organization’s policies and ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality throughout the process. Following the investigation, they are also responsible for communicating the board’s findings and decisions back to the complainant, ensuring transparency and closure in the resolution process.
