Procedure for Filing and Appealing Formal Complaints with Our Board

Filing a Complaint:

  1. Submit a formal written complaint to the director. This can be done via email or through a designated platform.
  2. The complaint should include:
    • Name of the perpetrator.
    • Detailed account of the incident.
    • Requested outcome or resolution.
  3. The report will then be handed over to the executive director for investigation.
  4. The accused individual will be granted access to the report upon request unless the board determines that extraordinary circumstances preclude it.
  5. If necessary, you may be contacted for additional information or clarification regarding the incident.
  6. You will be informed about any actions or decisions made by the board based on the investigation.

If a Complaint is Filed Against You:

  1. The executive director will oversee the investigation as a neutral party. Ensure that all communication regarding the complaint is made solely with the executive director. Approaching other board members is prohibited.
  2. While the complaint is being investigated, you will be requested to refrain from attending any LNK events or participating in LNK social media to include Discord, Fetlife and Facebook.
  3. You reserve the right to submit a rebuttal against the accusations. Additionally, you can provide any witnesses to support your case. This should be submitted within 2 weeks from the date the complaint was filed against you.
  4. After the 2-week rebuttal period concludes, the board will convene to vote on the matter.
  5. You will be notified of the board’s decision post-vote.
  6. If you disagree with the board’s decision, you have the right to appeal as per our bylaw guidelines. However, any permanent and irrevocable ban decisions cannot be appealed.
